Emergency Treatment

Dental pain or an injury? Call us. We’ll make every effort to see you as soon as possible, including new patients.

Dental emergencies rarely come at a convenient time. Prompt care relieves pain, and in many cases it can save a tooth.

We treat

  • Toothaches and dental infections.
  • Broken, chipped or cracked teeth.
  • Knocked-out or loosened teeth after an injury.
  • Lost fillings and crowns.
  • Broken dentures and bridges.
  • Swelling of the gum or face.

What to do before your visit

  • Rinse with warm salt water and floss gently around a sore tooth.
  • Take an over-the-counter pain reliever as directed, if it’s safe for you. Don’t put aspirin on the gum.
  • Use a cold compress on your cheek for swelling.
  • Save any broken pieces, and keep a lost crown.

What happens when you call

Tell us what happened and how you’re feeling. We’ll make every effort to see you as soon as possible, find the cause of the problem, relieve your pain, and explain your treatment options, such as a filling, a root canal, a crown or an extraction.

Our office hours are Monday - Thursday, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm.

Common questions

Do you see new patients for emergencies?

Yes. Call (212) 593-1499, tell us what happened, and we’ll make every effort to see you as soon as possible.

What should I do if a tooth is knocked out?

Pick it up by the crown, not the root, rinse it briefly if dirty, and try to put it back in its socket. If you can’t, keep it in milk and call us right away. A tooth replaced within about 30 minutes has the best chance.

When should I go to the emergency room instead?

Go to the ER or call 911 for facial swelling that spreads quickly, trouble breathing or swallowing, heavy bleeding that won’t stop, or a possible broken jaw.
