Improve your smile

Porcelain Veneers

Thin, custom-made porcelain shells that change the color, shape and size of your front teeth.

Porcelain veneers are one of the most versatile ways to improve a smile. Each veneer is a thin shell of dental porcelain, custom-made and bonded to the front of a tooth. Porcelain reflects light much like natural enamel, so well-made veneers look like your own teeth.

What veneers can fix

  • Stains that whitening can’t remove.
  • Chipped, worn or short teeth.
  • Uneven or oddly shaped teeth.
  • Small gaps between the front teeth.
  • Slightly crooked teeth, when you prefer not to have orthodontic treatment.

What to expect

  1. Consultation. Dr. Winter examines your teeth and bite, and talks with you about the smile you want.
  2. Preparation. A thin layer of enamel is removed, impressions are taken, and you wear temporary veneers while yours are made.
  3. Bonding. We check the fit, shape and color with you, then bond the veneers permanently.

The process usually takes two or three visits over a few weeks.

Is there an alternative?

For small chips or gaps, bonding can be quicker and less expensive. For discoloration alone, teeth whitening may be all you need. We’ll explain the options honestly so you can choose.

Common questions

How long do porcelain veneers last?

With good care, porcelain veneers often last 10 to 15 years or longer before they need replacing.

Are veneers permanent?

Yes. A thin layer of enamel is removed so the veneers sit naturally, so the teeth will always need a veneer or other covering. That is why careful planning matters.

Can veneers be whitened?

No. Porcelain doesn’t stain, but it also doesn’t respond to whitening. If you’d like brighter natural teeth as well, whiten first so the veneers can be matched.
